Quindim Recipe

Quindim Recipe

Quindim is a very tasty Brazilian sweet, which has egg, sugar and coconut as its main ingredients. It is a dessert with influences on Portuguese convent sweets and, therefore, very similar to Brisas do Lis de Leiria, Portugal. It is ideal to serve at parties, birthdays, meetings, sweeten the end of any main meal or to make snack time tastier. See Specialfood suggestion to prepare quindim below!

Ingredients for making Quindim:

 10 units of egg yolk

 200 milliliters of coconut milk

 250 grams of sugar

60 grams of grated coconut (¾ cup)

1 tablespoon of butter at room temperature

 1 tablespoon of wheat flour

How to make Quindim:

Start the quindim recipe by placing the egg yolks and sugar in a container, stir with a fuê or fork until you get a smooth cream.

Then add the coconut milk, wheat flour, butter and grated coconut. Mix with the same instrument to incorporate everything very well.

Butter several individual molds and sprinkle them with crystal sugar. Place a portion of the quindim dough in each one, until the top.

Tip: Stir the dough before putting it in the molds, so that each quindim receives grated coconut.

Place the molds with the quindim in a pan filled with water and bake in a bain-marie oven at 180ºC for about 40 minutes. The quindins will be ready when the top is golden and, by sticking a toothpick, it comes out dry.

Remove the quindins from the oven and allow them to warm before unmolding, so that they come off easily and whole. Serve right away and let us know what you think of this candy!
